Special Education Teacher - Full Time

Location: Chicago Ridge, IL, 60415

Qualifications:

  • A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education endorsement.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.

  • Previous teaching experience in special education is preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of effective strategies for working with students with diverse learning needs.

  • Ability to adapt to and address the unique challenges and opportunities of a diverse student population.

Position Details:

  • Location: Chicago Ridge, IL

  • Duration: SY 2023-24

  • Onsite/Virtual: Onsite

  • Position Type: Full Time

  • Working Hours: 40 hours weekly, from Monday to Friday

  • Student Age Group: Junior High

  • Case Load: 7 Kids

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.

  • Provider specialized instruction to students with disabilities, both in self-contained and inclusive settings.

  • Regularly assess and monitor student progress.

  • Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and specialists.

  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians.

  • Utilize available resources, materials, and assistive technologies to support student learning.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws related to special education.

  • Promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classrooms.
