Job DescriptionThermal Engineer; Functional Testing is responsible for total vehicle thermal management system validation and verification for passenger, powertrain, power electronics & energy storage system. The Engineer will work with system engineers, component development engineers, and suppliers to validate and verify a total vehicle thermal management system to become the benchmark of automotive industry. The main role of Thermal Engineer; Functional Testing is to build in-house validation capability and lead component, system and vehicle level validation activities.to resolve issue and optimize thermal system for weight/cost while satisfying program milestones.ResponsibilitiesLead validation and verification for an automotive thermal system and its component at component, system and vehicle level Build in-house test capability by development of DAQ system strategy, airflow test stands, system calorimeter chamber and climatic wind tunnel. Development of DVP&R for vehicle thermal component, system and vehicle level. Lead vehicle climatic wind tunnel test and field test. Benchmark competitive thermal components, to define functional target and engineering specifications Responsibility for data instrumentation, collection, analysis and management. Coordinate and conduct hardware testing in the lab to verify and validate thermal management system hardware functionality and reliability Prepare and present test reports and results to cross-functional teams and executive leadership Responsible for meeting vehicle development milestones. Provide input in the creation of component specification, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents where analysis plays a central role. Assist in the development of comprehensive design verification and validation activities, including writing test procedures, environmental testing fixtures and data acquisition systems Present to various levels of management with different depth of expertise Describe development proposals and problem descriptionsQualificationsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited University. Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with specialty in refrigerant cycle, thermal dynamics & fluid mechanics Good working knowledge refrigerant, coolant, airflow, injection molded parts, brazed components and high voltage components. Hands-on experience of refrigerant components, sensors, valves and fluid transport component design is a plus Thermal system component, vehicle level testing experience is a must 5~10 years of working experiences in the thermal management system area for HEV,PHEV and EV. Working experience with automotive systems design, packaging and assembly requirements Supervisory experience desired Additional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
