The Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the production, development, writing, and editing of FBLA’s publications and communication materials.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Coordinate the communication and marketing planning processes for FBLA programs, products, and services, including meetings, project tracking, and data management
· Draft articles that require minimal editing and coordinate photos for Tomorrow’s Business Leader, FBLA’s award-winning flagship magazine, and weekly email blasts
· Monitor FBLA’s social media accounts under the guidance of the Digital Marketing & Communications Manager to schedule posts; respond to notifications; engage with sponsors, partners, and local or state FBLA chapters; and identify opportunities for sharing or reposting content
· Work with membership staff to support the development of and production of membership materials, including annual chapter guides for each division as well as special purpose materials for use by student members and chapter advisers
· In coordination with the Education Programs and Awards & Recognition departments, support the development and production of conference and competitive event material, which include but are not limited to promotional materials, awards programs, and other onsite materials
· Draft media releases under the guidance of the Director of Communications & Marketing covering association events, new partnerships, National Officers, programs, success stories, and new pieces
· Organize department invoices and payments to vendors supporting communications and marketing activities of the organization
· Develop and maintain traditional and social media lists on behalf of the organization
Experience, Education and Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field
· 2-3 years of experience in journalism or public relations (required)
· Demonstrated ability to manage projects on deadline from inception to completion
· Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Access, Teams, and PowerPoint)
· Proficiency with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok, as well as social media scheduling tools like Loomly
· Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills
· Proven ability to work in a team-based environment working cross-departmentally to complete projects as needed
· Travel required to annual National Leadership Conference in June and/or July
