DESCRIPTIONJob purposeThe Intervention Specialist works closely with the school Principal, teaching staff, and Director of Special Services to support and build a foundation for learning based on our Three Pillars: Onboard Strength, Academic Strength, and Career Readiness Strength. The Intervention Specialist provides specialized instruction to students with disabilities or thought to have disabilities across the Network. The Intervention Specialist serves students throughout the Network, primarily students at the same school site, and secondarily students at other sites in the Network as needed.Duties and responsibilitiesPrimary responsibilities include: Onboard Strength: o Encourage daily attendance through engaging instruction and student/family communication.o Teach concepts that develop student motivation and self-efficacy.o Participate in student retention and engagement practices with Administrators and colleagues.
Academic Strength: o Employ data to personalize instruction and assessment to student needs, helping students fill gaps and see their own growth.o Develop lesson plans from the approved curriculum using a variety of techniques and visual aids, creative projects, and technology to engage students in their learning. Career Readiness Strength: o Align lesson plans to CBI standards using real-life work scenarios for application.o Once eligible, obtain endorsement for Career-Based Intervention (CBI) through Network provided training opportunities.Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee and assist with the implementation of the IEP for each student served Maintain all student records and files according to the Models Policies and Procedures and will follow up on all requests for IEP and MFE dates Create student service schedules and write lessons plans according to students IEP Design and facilitate in-person and online individualized educational support services Provide specialized instruction virtually, in the Resource Room, or in general education classrooms as determined by students needs. Prepare and administer all standardized tests as directed and or assigned Keep accurate records on each student such as grade books and progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, parent/guardian communication, and behavior/discipline records Maintain the classroom environment and discipline in an orderly fashion conducive to student safety and learning Develop/write/complete required special education documents for the state and sponsor in a timely manner to ensure compliance Schedule special education meetings as required/ needed Provide information and resources to school staff regarding student needs Collaborate consistently and effectively with teachers, school psychologists, related service providers, parents and administrators Participate in the RtI (Response to Intervention) process with school teams as directed Research and locate prior school special education documents ( IEP, ETR, Progress Reports, etc) Work with related services to keep IEPs (annual) and Evaluations/Reevaluations (every 3 years) current and compliant Be aware of student statuses for state and district testing and ensure individual accommodations are provided as outlined in the IEP Collaborate with professionals outside of school to continuously remain updated on student progressions Create EMIS Event forms for all special education events and enter data into the SIS system for all students with disabilities Attend and/ or participate in extracurricular activities as directed by the Principal Perform student home visits as required or needed for student success Perform other duties as assigned
