We have two locations, Fusek's True Value Downtown which is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis and Fusek's True Value Hardware East which is located on East Washington Street near Washington Square Mall. We are looking to fill an open position. We are a growing family business with a lot of opportunity for growth with in the company.

Paint Department Manager
Position Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Paint Department Manager position should be to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales which includes new accounts and business, help create the best paint department experience possible, merchandise product, and support the store management team with a specific focus on the Paint Department. Paint Department Manager is tasked with additional and specialized duties that include giving color and paint product selection advice, receiving product, overseeing the paint department and sundries, and extending our customer first philospophy to be the most helpful hardware and paint store possible. For this position you must have actual Paint Department Experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the paint department, counter, aisles and paint equipment on a daily basis including preventative maintenance
  • Offer color matching expertise and paint product selection advise.
  • Ensure the paint department is performing on a weekly basis to the expectations of Store Manager
  • Ability to mix paint using provided equipment including manual and auto-tinters and paint mixing software. Ensure that all custom-mixed product is correct and maintain quality control within the department to minimize mis-mixed product.
  • Dedication to maintain consistent and accurate customer files.
  • Have a working knowledge of all paint lines carried within the store, including but not limited to Benjamin Moore and True Value line.
  • Having a working knowledge of all sundry’s categories including, interior & exterior paint, primers, applicators, interior & exterior wood finishes, adhesives, surface preparation, and patch & repair.
  • Actively engage and question customers to assist with their "Color Journey" and ensure that every customer gets the right product for every project.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with paint contractors and work to meet their specific needs.
  • Execute the daily operational, daily goals and priorities assigned by store management
  • Make phone calls and outside sales calls and develop and implement sales plan to build on outside paint sales and build on current customer accounts.
  • Order paint and paint department supplies
  • maintaining color collateral and chip racks and maintain overstock
  • Ensure that the paint department maintains an "in-stock" position by ordering from non-True Value vendors as needed.
  • Keeping current on paint technologies and new products with willingness to suggest additions or subtractions to product mix.
  • Train other employees on paint and products in department.
  • Receive inventory orders and restock paint, sundries and other departments as needed

Supervisor Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Exemplify the core values of Fusek’s True Value in all daily actions.
  • Participates in MOD functions as scheduled.
  • Adheres to all best practices- huddles, floor observations, zoning, floor walks, etc.
  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding service.
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
  • Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store manager/owner.
  • Assist in the training and development of peers.
  • Actively participate in daily huddle of meetings.
  • Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards.
  • Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized.
  • Responsive of safety issues.
  • Conscious of shoplifting activity.
  • Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, on truevalue.com, as well as, processing special orders.
  • Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies, including True Value Rewards.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Min 3 years paint store experience; Color matching; Sales and marketing experience with retail programs; Establishing relationships and working with customers; Buying experience a plus. . A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction. Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi¬task. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.

  • Education/Training: High School diploma or GED, some college preferred. Possess a vast product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn.
  • Experience: Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with commercial and residential customers.
  • Previous experience in a retail environment either in marketing, sales or back office.
  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the need of the business.

Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently to load and unload customers’ orders.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period.
  • Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and performing all functions as set forth.

Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
