FurstStaffing is Hiring a Quality Assurance Tech Near Lena, IL
Experienced Quality Assurance Tech needed for leading Cheese manufacturer in Lena. The qualified candidate will work to ensure all products meet legal and company specifications for food safety. This involves testing ingredients, in-process samples, and finished product. This is a Furst-to-Hire opportunity.
Hours: 5am to 1:30pm, Monday-Friday, some Saturdays required
Pay: $21.00/hour
Quality Assurance Tech Responsibilities:
- Test finished products to ensure compliance with company and federal requirements
- Demonstrate basic working knowledge of SQF, FDA, USDA, PMO, and customer requirements
- Perform a variety of chemical and physical tests on incoming, in-process and finished product
- Enter analytical data into system
- Maintain testing equipment by completing preventative maintenance, simple repairs, and calibration checks
- Identify non-conformances and communicate clearly to operations; provide guidance on corrective actions
- Demonstrate knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety Plan, pre-requisite programs and GMPs
- Review food safety documentation and control records for deviations or failures
- Communicate issues to QA Manager
- Provide technical support to operations
- Train other departments on customer complaints, non-conformances, good documentation practices, GMPs, and audit findings
- High school diploma/GED and 2 years of experience working in a lab environment; or BS degree in biology, microbiology or food/dairy science with no experience
- Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English
- Previous food industry, particularly in cheese and/or dairy
- Knowledge of LIMS software
