Job Summary:With the executive director, assist in developing the strategic direction and leads the work for Furman Innovation and Entrepreneurship. With the executive director supervises the staff in assisting, executing conception, planning, funding, and launch of new programs and initiatives. Oversees assigned daily activities, programs, and operations of the staff, and is responsible to the executive director for the success and quality of their products and outcomes. With the executive director, oversees the financial affairs and direction, ensuring the annual budget is aligned with programmatic and operational objectives. Along with the executive director, represents the staff as a senior staff member on campus and throughout the regional entrepreneurial eco-system.
Job Description:Responsibilities:Supervise, coach and develop staff to deliver programmatic activities to achieve institute goals. Serves as primary partner to executive director to engage and develop external partners locally and regionally (VentureSouth, SCRA, NEXT, etc.). With executive director, explores and pursues special projects; explore and develop financial models for off-campus space, speaker series, commercializing campus assets, etc. Accountable for generating revenue and funding to support the institute's operations. Represent the institute at events and meetings at Furman and in the community when the executive director is unable to attend. Pursues professional development to keep pace with demands for services and information, including maintaining up to date information about the department and university. Performs other duties as assigned.

Relationships:Works with students, faculty, staff, administration, trustees, alum, event participants, and other members of the community.
Responsibility for Final Decisions:Responsible and accountable for staff and funding institute operations.
Reports To: Executive Director, The Hill Institute for Innovation and EntrepreneurshipWork is performed independently on routine work, non-routine issues or questions are referred to the supervisor.
Education/Skill Requirements:- Bachelor's degree, master's degree, or terminal preferred with 5 years relevant experience
- Ability to take initiative and lead staff
- Ability to research, synthesize data, and develop effective slide decks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong skills in business development and influence others
- Experience in office software, including word processing and spreadsheets required
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills, ability to independently manage priorities
- Ability to work with staff across all organizational programs
- Positive, energetic, personable, and respectful of others
Work Conditions:Work is performed under usual office conditions.
Work includes occasional travel within the state and very occasional travel outside of the state.
Hours during the work week must be flexible to include working with various institute programs and events that are held on weekend and evenings.
Physical Demands:Able to lift 20 pounds from floor to counter top and transport them.
Able to load and unload event collateral into and from car.
Able to set up venues, including movement of chairs, podium, set-up of banners, etc.
