Summary

The Project Engineer, with reliability responsibilities, manages the planning and processes of projects within the Furlani Foods Corporation facilities and oversees responsibilities to ensure projects are completed efficiently and successfully, overseeing internal and external resources as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS):

  • Leads project completion by organizing and overseeing project elements, ensuring efficiency and quality throughout.
  • Establishes project objectives through meticulous review of proposals, plans, and consultations with management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Assigns project responsibilities by identifying phases and elements, allocating personnel, and evaluating contractor bids for optimal project execution.
  • Defines project specifications by analyzing product design, customer requirements, and performance standards, ensuring adherence to quality benchmarks.
  • Conducts technical studies and prepares accurate cost estimates to support project planning and budgeting.
  • Validates product performance through comprehensive testing protocols, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Develops project schedules by analyzing plans, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Monitors project progress, coordinates activities, and resolves issues to maintain project schedules and mitigate risks.
  • Controls project plans by reviewing designs, specifications, and schedules, implementing changes, and providing actionable recommendations as needed.
  • Manages project costs by approving expenditures and overseeing contractor contracts, ensuring budget adherence and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepares detailed project status reports, analyzing information and trends to facilitate informed decision-making and corrective actions.
  • Upholds a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations, prioritizing employee well-being and compliance.
  • Maintains project database integrity through programming, data entry, and backup procedures, ensuring accurate and accessible project information.
  • Safeguards product and company reputation by adhering to federal, state, and/or provincial regulations, promoting ethical conduct and quality standards.
  • Collaborates within the team to achieve collective goals, offering support and contributing to shared success.
  • Supports local maintenance teams in ensuring equipment reliability and functionality across all Furlani's plants by implementing proactive maintenance strategies, conducting regular inspections, and promptly addressing any issues to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving business needs.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Travel required:
  • Specifically, but not limited to within North America and Europe.
  • Some weekend and/or hours outside regular operating hours may be required.
Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or Reliability Engineer, Mechanical Engineer.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Mechanical/Project Engineering or related fields, showcasing expertise in reliability engineering or maintenance management within manufacturing settings.
  • Lean 6-Sigma
  • Proven leadership abilities, with an outstanding communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Solid problem solving and decision-making skills, sense of urgency, attention to detail, organization, ability to execute multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • A positive, "can do" attitude.

CONSIDERED A PLUS:

  • Communicates effectively in speaking, writing, and in listening.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing industry a plus.
  • Keeps employees informed as to company/shift plans and progress.
  • Requires both technical knowledge and administrative and daily interaction with Supervisors, Leads and Production Employees.
  • Proactive mind-set and flexibility are important as well as the ability to work under just-in-time pressures.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Engagement with employees in the plant is required but some work will be in an office environment.
  • Must be willing/able to perform duties and responsibilities in a food manufacturing environment, adhering to all required food safety protocols.
  • Safely work independently and around others by following all required site procedures.
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours when required.
  • Ability to walk on flat and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Ability to work in a normal bakery atmosphere and the situations it may expose such as loud noises, strong smells, and dust/flour.
  • Able to hear; must be alert, to sounds of machinery malfunctions; hear alarms and emergency announcements.
