UNCLASSIFIED POSITION LOCATED IN JUVENILE COURT
CLERK'S OFFICE INTAKE UNIT
(POSITION WILL BE IN ROTATING SHIFTS)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or a related field (Master's degree preferred); and five or more years of experience providing court programs and/or services, including three or more years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Requires knowledge of principles and practices of budget administration, Court processes and procedures, legal terminology, laws, rules, and regulations governing court operations. Methods used to conduct research and analysis.
Developing and managing budgets. Using spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, and other software to research legal issues, organize and analyze information, prepare reports, and create and deliver effective presentations.
Developing, implementing, interpreting, and enforcing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds. Building sustainable working relationships with other County personnel, officials, and the public. Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisor, and the public.
Understanding, using, and explaining Court-specific computer applications to manage court processes, gather and analyze statistics, and create reports.
Requires skills in supervising staff, organizing and prioritizing work while delivering high quality, customer-focused service. Resolving problems and making decisions.
General office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.
Licensing Requirements:May require candidate to possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license within 30 days of becoming a resident.
Physical Requirements:Work is typically performed in an office-like environment. May work in high conflict situations and with difficult, sometimes dangerous parties. Positions in this class typically require fingering, driving, talking, hearing, and seeing. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises a judicial support team assigned to an assigned Superior Court Judge.
Essential Duties:Writes reports and correspondence. Approves the release of court documents prepared by staff.
Supervises and monitors the retention of documents to conform to record retention schedules; coordinates the storage of court records. Researches, evaluates, and implements departmental court policies and procedures.
Coordinates calendar dates for assigned judge. Oversees the generation of defendant court notices.
Investigates and resolves problems concerning court services.
Conducts new employee orientation.
Supervises assigned staff, including establishing workloads, prioritizing work assignments, evaluating performance, interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures, resolving issues, making hiring or termination decisions/recommendations, and administering disciplinary action as required.
