Part-time Post-Doctoral Research Associate

DEPT: SOPMFT

REPORTS TO: Principal Investigator, Lisseth Rojas-Flores, Ph.D.

HOURS: 25-29 per week

MODE: Hybrid – Remote and in-person

STATUS: NON-EXEMPT; part-time 

Brief Description:

The SOPMFT is accepting applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in prevention and intervention research with caregivers (parents and faith leaders) and children in global settings. Applicants must have a background in developmental psychology, research, and data analysis experience in the field and strong project management skills.This full-time appointment will be for one-year starting immediately, with the possibility of renewing the contract for another year contingent on performance and funding. Under the mentorship of Dr. Lisseth Rojas-Flores, the post-doctoral research associate will help coordinate a multi-site, multi-country (14 countries) study of parent value-formation programs and child outcomes. In addition, the post-doctoral research associate will contribute to relevant publications as lead author and co-author.

Core Responsibilities

The post-doctoral research associate will manage/oversee the day-to-day activities of the research project and will be involved in the following:

  • Managing data (safe protocol data transfers and merging, storage, maintenance) and ensuring data security compliance with agencies like HIPPA or similar regulations in international settings, like GDPR.
  • Preparing IRB protocol submissions and survey development.
  • Analyzing program evaluation data (e.g., descriptive, multivariate analyses, intent-to-treat)
  • Assisting with teleconferences to provide assistance and guidance to staff in international settings and DME teams in participating countries
  • Presenting research findings to country program staff, community partners, and other key stakeholders
  • Preparing reports to grant funders and collaborating in manuscript development for peer-reviewed publications and professional conference presentations 
  • Supervising and mentoring other research staff (e.g., research assistants).
  • If interested, there are opportunites to teach a Fuller SOPMFT class, pending availability, relevant topic, and timing of class; TBD.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Human Development, Social Work, Public Health, Education, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment
  • Strong background in prevention science research focused on promoting healthy child development. Experience or training in spiritual nurturance and values formation of children and youth, highly desired.
  • Experience conducting community-based or international research with families with children and communities of faith in global settings
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially with international settings and sensitivity to families in faith communities; excellent writing skills for both academic and community settings
  • Formal training in quantitative methodology and academic writing experience
  • A beginning track record of publication
  • Proficiency in Excel, KoboToolbox, SPSS, and any other statistical package (e.g., STATA, R.)

Pay Scale

Wage scale the seminary expects to pay: $25 - $30 per hour USD
