Description

Summary: Fuller Industries makes janitorial cleaning supplies, brushes, and plastics. In this high energy team environment, no two days are the same because the chemical department makes hundreds of products on nine different production lines. The chemical team packages floor cleaners, waxes, hand sanitizers, disinfectants, and many other cleaning products into gallons, quarts, pails, bags, and a variety of other containers. These products are used in schools, health care, food grade manufacturing and other businesses.

*This position will be for the 2nd shift (3 pm to 8 pm on weekdays) and the weekend shift (8 am to 4 pm), and manages all operators in the department and is responsible for the supervision and performance of the employees within that department.

EssentialDuties:

  • Ensure all shift employees and line leads are following the Company’s health and safety standards.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting production lines; observing equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Establish an open line of communication between the chemical department, chemical compounding, QC laboratory, scheduling, and management to facilitate a continuous flow of production to meet assigned production goals and analyze the area to avoid and solve potential production issues.
  • Ensuring that operators are recording operational data, pressures, ingredients used, processing times, or test results.
  • Monitor operators work in progress and timing to facilitate the necessary logistics of production flow minimizing downtime while increasing output and reducing cycle time.
  • Assist in production on as needed basis.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of production equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Review job packets for accurate completion of all labeling, documentation, and reporting via paper and electronic devices.
  • Approve timecards, time off requests, performance reviews, and other personal items. As well as work with Human Resources on hiring, disciplinary, and terminations.
  • Accurately count and record completed work and material consumption.
  • Oversee repairs or rework of defective products.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

Must be able to work with simple arithmetic, and understand ordinary verbal and written instructions. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; some high school education required.

Language Skills:
Must be able to read, write and speak English, bilingual a plus.

WorkEnvironment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to loud noises, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals (including high and low pH), flammable materials, high, precarious places and moving mechanical parts. The employee will be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand, walk and use fine motor coordination throughout the entire shift.
  • Uses stairs occasionally.
  • Occasionally - Lifting/handling: exert up to 50 pounds occasionally; up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Vision: color; close; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
  • Wear a respirator on an as needed basis.
