Lanier Technical College – Hall/Barrow County campuses (www.laniertech.edu) is conducting a search for the following full-time, salaried, FLSA-exempt, benefit-eligible GRANT-FUNDED position. POSITION:FULL TIME INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY / MECHATRONICS INSTRUCTOR

REPORTS TO:Dean of Advanced Technology & Engineering

SALARY: Low $70’s depending on education and qualifications

EFFECTIVE:This position is available now

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, responsibilities include the following:

·Develop program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.

·Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technology courses.

·Develop syllabi to meet program and school objectives.

·Evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives.

·Request and maintain supplies and equipment, and prepares required budget requests.

·Maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate.

·Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.

·Attend required staff development training, workshops, and seminars.

·Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

·Meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.

·Assist with program recruitment, student retention and student job placement efforts.

·Conduct bi-annual program industry advisory committee meetings.

·Work with local advisory committee to identify equipment to support training in the areas of advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence as related to the food processing industry.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·Associates degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial systems technology, mechatronics, advanced manufacturing, mechatronics, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university;

·Three (3) years of work experience in a position related to industrial technology, mechatronics, advanced manufacturing or related field. 

·Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·Ability to work flexible hours and teach at multiple campuses as needed;

·Knowledge of pedagogical practice and theory;

·Knowledge of academic course standards, and LTC’s academic programs;

·Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education;

·Skilled in the operation of computers and job-related software programs;

·Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making, and problem-solving skills;

·Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching courses, data collection, & reporting for licensing and accreditation agencies and the College;

·Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude and professional attire;

·Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom content;

·Skill to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.

·Ability to develop curriculum and successfully deliver courses in the following areas:

oBasic electrical and mechanical concepts

oProgrammable Logic Controllers

oRobotics & Automation

oAdvanced Manufacturing Processes and Artificial Intelligence (special emphasis on the food processing industry)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):

·More than three (3) years of work experience in a position related to advanced manufacturing.

·Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.

·Previous online teaching or training experience including the use of video capture tools.
