Overview

The Manager, Facilities manages the utility and faciltiies team for the site. The position ensures goals and objectives for the team are well established and in line with business needs and stakeholder expectations while overseeing the team’s daily operations including repairs, maintenance and 24/7 site monitoring.

Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance, the Facilities Manager serves as the System Owner for direct and indirect utilities. In addition the role oversees other facility equipment such as elevators and fire systems and is responsible for the upkeep of the building and grounds..

Will lead the Facilities team to recruit, train, and guide resources to ensure performance and productivity of the group.

Internal Job Description

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the Facilities Team to ensure that new utilities are designed and commissioned in accordance with FDBU standards and specifications
  • Ensures existing equipment and utilities are in proper working order, including scheduling repairs and maintenance through on site staff or approved vendors
  • Ensure effective team communication and tracking of open Work Orders and operational issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to members of the team as well as facilities and broader operations personnel when required
  • Develop organizational capabilities to ensure continued staff development. Develop functional goals, drive, and monitor performance against goals and KPIs
  • Manage preventive maintenance program for all utilities based on risk and reliability management
  • Manage and maintain Good Engineering Practice (GEP) for Facilities and Utilities and associated Work Orders
  • Manage required system owner Quality System documents including Change Controls, Deviations, Corrective and/or Preventive Actions
  • Collaborate with Engineering, MTS, QA, and Manufacturing functions to document equipment specifications and user requirements
  • Provide technical support in case of utility related process deviations in root cause investigation and implementation of Corrective and/or Preventive Actions
  • Provide input to the Site Validation Master Plans for direct utility systems
  • Develop and maintain task related Standard Operationg Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Provide client and regulatory inspection support

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10 years of relevant experience, which must include 5 years direct process engineering or manufacturing experience. B.S. Degree in Engineering or related technical degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of validation principles to provide support for utility systems qualification
  • Proven track record of staff management, capable of developing people and teams with 5 years of management experience.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems.
  • Sound industry knowledge, project proficiency, and autonomy are expected.
  • Must possess in-depth knowledge of bio-pharmaceutical Clean Utilities.
