GENERAL PURPOSE
The Ink technician is responsible for carrying out the assignments required by the Ink Manufacturing team to meet the needs of the business. These responsibilities include hands-on small-scale manufacture. The primary purpose of this position is to manufacture aqueous conductive inks per batch process logs in a small lab scale manufacturing environment. This includes material handling, operating pumps, monitoring temperature-controlled reactions, monitoring material flows, filtering, applications testing of finished product, and packaging to customer requirements. The Ink technician is responsible for their own work habits and safety performance. This position requires accurate transfer of information, documentation of all process steps, and reporting of abnormal occurrences. Accomplishment of these tasks requires direct interaction with co-workers, lab personnel, and manufacturing supervision. This position reports to the Aqueous Ink Supervisor. In addition to the listed responsibilities, the position will require you to perform other duties, in the ink and dye plant, and upon request from management.

NATURE OF POSITION
This position requires performance of multiple tasks to progress lab-scale batches through to completion from start to finish. Incumbent performs material charging, monitoring of reactions, filtration and storage of finished goods, and preliminary packaging. In addition, the application testing of finished products may be required to ensure the quality of the aqueous Conductive inks. The Ink technician is required to follow process logs steps, completing all log documentation, and properly submitting material transfer paperwork. Areas of focus for this position are communications, area standards, EHS, training, attention to detail, Right First Time, and production optimization.
Some routine and project activities may involve applications testing and instrument operation to support the needs of the business with respect to aqueous Conductive ink and troubleshooting. These include, but are not limited to, bar coating, film thickness measurement, and resistivity testing.
This position has an EHS requirement. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that a safe workplace is maintained, will participate in regular safety audits and inspections, and will also periodically participate in EHS Committee lab tours. The Ink technician is required to maintain Conductive waste stream handling in accordance with site EHS policy. All flammable materials will be handled in accordance with EHS guidelines. Position also requires a pro-active participation in the 5S, Continuous Improvements program, and Near Miss reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS EXPECTED
Under the general direction of the Aqueous Ink Supervisor, the Ink technician will be expected to manage the lab scale production of aqueous Conductive ink for commercial sale.
Additional Physical Job Requirements
Verification of chemicals and serve as second verifier for other technician’s work
Know-How
The incumbent should have some knowledge of chemistry as relates to manufacturing and analytical laboratory experience. A minimum of high school degree and 1-3 years or more of experience in related field is necessary.
Must have strong PC computer skills with knowledge of Windows and Windows applications programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to learn BLAZE/ LIMS system.
Desirable to have some knowledge of instrumentation and or physical testing methodology and the ability to learn new testing equipment and procedures.
Knowledge and application of mathematical skills is essential.
The job consists of processing batch logs and the detailed manufacture of high value aqueous Conductive ink and collecting process and test data.
