Our Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for the safety, academic, social-emotional growth, and development of children in their care. The Preschool Lead Teacher oversees all functions of the classroom, and works with parents, administrators and other teachers to improve students' experience and meet teaching objectives. Additionally, the Preschool Lead Teacher will plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment of the classroom to create opportunities that meet the changing needs of the developing child. The Preschool Lead Teacher must have a great love and patience for children. One of the most important responsibilities of our Preschool Lead Teacher will be to mentor staff under his/her supervision, model and reinforce positive behavior management strategies, and provide for an environment which welcomes collaboration within his/her teaching team. The Preschool Lead Teacher will maintain and be responsible for the health and safety of participants and maintaining program regulations in accordance with established Title 5 and Title 22 regulations.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
· Supervise, monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
. Carries out Title 5 and Title 22 regulations to maintain compliance
· Prepares and plans purposeful activities, implementing the daily curriculum
· Continuous purposeful recording of child’s development through observation and DRDP Online, as well as maintaining child portfolios
· Completing classroom forms and keeping child folders up to date
· Meeting with parents to discuss the goals and needs of students in the program
· Mentoring/coaching new teaching staff and Teacher Assistant
. Model developmentally-appropriate behavior management strategies in the classroom
· Setting up and arranging supplies and equipment used in the classroom or other environments for instruction and projects
· Supervise the use of the restrooms; change and launder wet or soiled clothes; assist in toilet training
· Performing care-related duties such as preparing meals, cleaning and sanitizing tables, sweeping floors, emptying waste receptacles and cleaning/maintaining indoor and outdoor environments to ensure they are safe, sanitary and in orderly condition at all times
· Plan assignments for the assistant teachers and volunteers
· Attend meetings, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence
· Follow center policies and procedures including, and not limited to those for health and safety, confidentiality, and care and supervision, at all times
· Maintains appropriate and positive relationships with children, families, parents, guardians, co-workers, and outside vendors
. Report accidents/incidents to Preschool Director
· Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education and/or related field and at least (2) years work experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program
· Current Child Development Master Teacher Permit, or Child Development Teacher Permit, or Associate Teacher Permit
. Knowledge of Title 5 and Title 22 Regulations
. Proven experience in curriculum development and implementation

· Experienced working with low income, minority and inner city populations
· Strong skills in interpersonal relations, verbal and written communication, and conflict-resolution
· Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency with technology
· Enthusiastic team builder with the ability to coach, support, and train diverse staff
· Possesses time management and organizational skills
· Professionalism is a must, and ability to provide a warm, positive environment for children, families, and staff.
Requirements:
. Current TB test, physical exam
. Current Pediatric First Aid/CPR Certification (EMSA Approved)
· Current Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training Certification (General Training Certificate and AB1207 Child Care Provider Certificate) (mandatedreporter.ca)
· Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check with fingerprinting
· Valid California Driver’s License, clean DMV record, with own reliable transportation and ability to meet organization’s minimum auto insurance requirements
· Will frequently be required to walk, stand and bend. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Required to lift and/or move unassisted up to 25 pounds
