Under general supervision of the Program Manager or Program Supervisor, the Peer Specialist must hold current certification, through the state of Ohio, as a Certified Peer Specialist. This position is designated for a person who identifies as having a lived experience with mental health recovery and/or recovery from substance use, and is willing to use and share his or her personal, practical experience, knowledge, and first-hand insight to benefit the team and its clients. Under the supervisor of the Program Manager or Program Supervisor, the peer specialist engages in non-directive and supportive relationships that promote empowerment and self-learning; provides peer counseling and consultation to individual clients, families, and team members; acts as a liaison with community resources; carries out rehabilitation and support functions; and assists in substance abuse services, education, support and consultation to families, and crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of the Program Manager. Services are provided based on Recovery tenets and are aimed to promote self-determination and the overall health and well-being of persons served.
This is a non-exempt, union position with a starting wage of $24.04 per hour.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12a - 8:30a
