Frontier Health is Hiring a Mental Health Program Specialist - Full Time Victory Center- Kingsport Near Kingsport, TN

JOB TITLE Mental Health Program Specialist

SUMMARY:

Mental Health Program Specialists use a variety of approaches and interventions to promote recovery and provide successful community integration experiences for adults with serious mental illness. Mental Health Program Specialists assist individuals in reaching goals of social, emotional, occupational, environmental, financial, physical, spiritual, and/or intellectual wellness. Mental Health Program Specialists provide services in an empowering psychoeducation-based mental health program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelor degree in mental health and/or social service related field required.

Licensure: Obtain and maintain a driver’s license with “F” endorsement within 30 days of hire. No endorsement required for VA residents.

Experience: Experience working in the mental health field preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.

Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle or 15 passenger van

Must have intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs.

Must have an average-above average typing speed.

Must have intermediate skills in video communication software

EQUIPMENT:

Computer, fax, copier, and any other equipment required to perform the functions of the position.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Provide recovery education services to individuals served by the program.

2.Respond calmly and appropriately in crisis situations, implementing effective therapeutic interventions and strategies.

3.Assess client strengths, needs, barriers, and preferences.

4.Actively engage individuals in services including follow-up contacts to the individual after absences, crisis, or hospitalization.

5.Provide safe transportation for program members to program activities.

6.Create SMART treatment plans with clients using assessment tools and goals for treatment.

7.Carry individual caseload under supervision of a licensed mental health professional.

8.Link individuals to community resources and peer support to promote community integration.

9.Consult and collaborate with all treatment team members including outpatient providers,

authorized supporters, and/or PCP.

10.Function as program representative within the community. Collaborate with community representatives towards community integration efforts.

11.Maintain case records in compliance with applicable agency and contract requirements to ensure effective service delivery, continuity, and quality assurance. Ensure all required documentation is completed in a timely and comprehensive manner.

12.Communicate with supervisor regarding concerns, opportunities, and quality of services

provided by the program.

-Staff will evidence no critical incidents resulting from a lack of client supervision.

13.Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and individual program planning sessions. Attend trainings on recovery; psychosocial rehabilitation, mental illness, etc. Keep apprised of new research and developments in these areas through journals, web sites and literature.

-Staff will evidence timely and successful completion of all training requirements.

14.All other duties as assigned.
