Frontier Coop is Hiring a Regulatory Analyst Near Norway, IA

SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring compliance with government and third-party standards and regulations. Maintains a current knowledge base of existing and emerging regulations, standards and other governmental and trade requirements. Ability to obtain HACCP, PCQI and Internal Auditing certifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Stays current with changes to regulations and standards, including Food and Drug Administration, Code of Federal Regulations, NSF International, organic and kosher regulations and standards, ISO 22716, and other governmental and trade requirements.
  • Stays current with product labeling requirements for food, dietary supplements, and cosmetic products.
  • Submits compliance reports to regulatory organizations or assists with the coordination of responses with regulatory authorities.
  • Strong project management abilities. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet project deadlines.
  • Has a critical role in assuring product safety, quality and continuous improvement and assists with the development, implementation, review and maintenance of quality systems.
  • Performs internal audits on effectiveness of compliance policies. Ensures any non-conformities are addressed.
  • Works cooperatively and efficiently with other departments to meet the overall objectives of the company.
  • Provides information and support to quality control, purchasing, customer service, marketing, sales and other groups as needed.
  • Completes information requests, internal and customer.
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making across the organization.
  • Assists manager in resolving day-to-day issues and remains flexible.
  • Lead, attend and/or assist internal, third party and co-pack qualification audits.
  • Lead and/or assist with engineering change notification requests.
  • Must be flexible to rotate through other Frontier facilities, to provide support as needed.
  • Assist with one or more of the following: certification and project management, vendor certificate management, vendor approval management, facility support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

40-70% of time in one or more of the following specialized categories

  • Certification and project management:
    • Represents quality assurance on cross-functional teams.
    • Researches requirements of new product lines to ensure compliance.
    • Coordinates label review, certification submissions, and provides status updates to project teams.
    • Manages product certification and audit requirements.
    • Answers customer questions and provides intra-departmental support.
  • Vendor certificate management:
    • Organizes and maintains vendor certificate calendar.
    • Communicate, track and trend vendor correspondence.
    • Provide regular status updates to purchasing and quality.
  • Vendor approval management:
  • Manages vendor qualification program.
    • Sets standards, tracks and trends vendor compliance.
    • Provides regular status updates to purchasing and quality.
    • Coordinates risk analysis of incoming ingredients or ingredient/vendor changes.
    • Assists with customer questions and provides intra-departmental support.
  • Facility support:
  • Audits in-line quality checks.
  • Performs SOP/Process audits in Operations.
  • Performs plant inspections, testing, and sampling for quality assurance compliance.
  • Performs environmental testing/allergen swabbing.
  • Answers process-related questions for packaging and processing.
  • Placards non-conforming items and completes warehouse transfers.
  • Initiates Product Reject Forms.
  • Improves SOP’s, provides standard work and training input.
  • Has a critical role in assuring product quality and continuous improvement.
  • Performs general clerical duties such as filing, data entry and report writing.
  • Works independently while demonstrating excellent judgment, accuracy, and decision making with little oversight. Assists other quality assurance personnel when needed.

  • Follows and ensures employee compliance with all company policies and procedures, including standard procedures for safety, quality, efficiency, as well as financial and customer business expectations.
  • Leads by example in work style and performance, as well as maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

  • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
  • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.
  • Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; proposes corrective action.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; and 2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, reports and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with a variety of people and respond to basic questions in situations where common courtesy and tact are needed.

QUANTITATIVE SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs. Ability to use a computer to create spreadsheets and charts, and run reports.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently.
  • Good organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within team concept.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel and database software.
  • Maintain positive attitude and approach to personnel when addressing items that do not meet Frontier expectations.

  • Respectful and observant of others feelings.
