Medical Assistant for Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Practice

Frontier Allergy & Asthma, a TeleMed2U company has an immediate need for a full-time Medical Assistant in our Austin location.

Job Summary: Responsible for assisting physician with patient care by controlling allergy shot patient flow, obtaining, and documenting necessary history and vital signs, performing assigned procedures, and providing patient education.

Responsibilities:

• Greets patients and prepares syringes for injection administration.
• Provides general care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments, specifically allergy/immunotherapy injections.
• Maintains immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness.
• Observes, records and reports patients’ vitals and reactions to treatments.
• Maintains accurate patient records.
• Assures patient stays for required observation time after injection(s).
• Reacts appropriately to inpatient reaction situations; informs physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.
• Maintains patient, employee and clinic confidentiality.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years’ experience
• Clinical experience in allergy preferred, but not required.
• Experience with computers and Electronic Medical Records.
• Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols, within the Medical Assistant scope of work.
• CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain).
• Clinical experience in allergy preferred, but not required.
• Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to recognize and communicate problems promptly.
• Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
• Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families, and staff, including high volume and stressful situations.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle fast paced office with great typing skills.
• Ability to take initiative and willing to be a leader.
