We are currently looking for a Commerical Construction Superintendent to work at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). This will be a long-term position of at least 2 years. The position will be primarily located in New York, NY.
Position Scope
Superintendent: Work under the direction of an EIC. Review Project Drawings and submittals, Inspect delivered materials, Inspect installation of equipment, assist EIC with coordination of Commissioning requirements coordination of MEP inspections with General construction and overall management. Review payments for accuracy and provide recommendations to EIC for payment. Provide updates and review project schedules for accuracy and completeness. Draft reports as required. Help draft RFP’s for all mechanical trades.
The Superintendent/Inspector will support the agency by assisting with the operations of the construction site, during all phases.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee all aspects of the construction project from Inspection, planning to implementation
Allocate resources for assigned projects
Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials, and client
Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications
Ensure Safety Standards are enforced
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years of experience shall be as
a superintendent on large-scale multi-contract, building projects.
A minimum of 5 years of construction experience should be with public agencies
Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in written correspondence.
In addition, a superintendent must have a proficient level of knowledge relative to all aspects of construction supervision.
OSHA 10 Certification Required
Experience in scheduling, ordering, field supervision
Must be able to read blueprints, apply written specifications to the job and communicate effectively.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; both verbally and in writing
Excellent leadership skills
Understanding of all facets of the construction process
Preferred Skills and Experience
2 years experience working on transit projects
Experience with the MTA
