5:30 am - 2:00 pm

$130 per day

Our farm produces healthy food for individuals at farmers markets, grocery stores, and the best restaurants throughout Northern and Central Florida. This position helps the farm by making sure our customers have a great experience at the farmers markets.

This position is for someone who loves eating healthy produce and experiencing the seasons through local food, has enthusiasm for making good recommendations to our customers, and has an eye for detail and maintaining an attractive display.

An Ideal Candidate Can:

✔ lift 50 lbs

✔ stand all day

✔ work in heat/cold/rain as needed

✔ can work a register

✔ be friendly with customers and make suggestions

✔ be enthusiastic about veggies and talk with customers about how to cook with them

✔ be available at least 3 weeks out of the month consistently

✔ be a morning person (if applying to a morning market)

✔ look around and see what needs to be stocked and set up an attractive display

Job Duties

• Arrive at market on time and assist with set up
• Restock displays as needed
• Make conversation with customers
• Communicate the value of our product by explaining what goes into each product
• Ask customers what they’re planning to cook tonight and/or make suggestions (see this Training Handout on Promoting & Selling at Farmers Markets)
• Provide superior customer service
• Offer samples when appropriate
• Assist with break down for the hour following the end of the market

Requirements

• Know how to use Square & Cash register experience
• Positive attitude and friendly demeanor
• Enjoy sales work and customer service
• Outgoing personality, willing to talk to people and offer suggestions
• Ability to use a Square register and count back accurate change
• Ability to document inventory and keep written logs
• Ability to pass background check and/or provide professional references
• Physical endurance and ability to prepare yourself for working outdoors with proper rest, hydration, nutrition and attire
• Intrinsically motivated to do an efficient, high-quality job
• Attention to detail
• Interest in cooking and/or organic farming
• Interest in helping to create an alternative to the industrial food system and supplying people in your community with healthy food
• Team player, can-do attitude
• Positive attitude and an optimistic world-view
• Healthy lifestyle, no substance abuse, non-smoker (no tobacco use allowed on site or at markets)
• Love to eat veggies

Mandatory for all Farmers Market Applicants - In order to help with connecting team members to our farm and our mission, we are implementing a requirement for all market staff to attend a paid on-farm training and work day, and/or an educational farm tour at least once a year.
