Responsibilities:

Adaptive Mindset:

  • Embrace an innovative and flexible approach to instruction.
  • Ensure all students have access to the CapX educational model.
  • Collaborate daily with colleagues to facilitate interdisciplinary learning.

Social-Emotional Awareness:

  • Integrate SEL into the curriculum through Morning Meetings and Student-led Conferences.
  • Foster positive relationships with students.
  • Supplement curriculum with SEL lessons and strategies that promote growth and development.

Content Knowledge:

  • Deliver a broad range of learning experiences both in the classroom and the community.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary, project-based learning experiences that lead to student mastery.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of grade-level standards and school curriculum.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish effective structures and routines for traditional and mobile learning environments.
  • Provide quality instruction in various locations to ensure consistent teaching and learning.
  • Facilitate learning on the go in various locations throughout the DMV

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate trips 1-2 times per week using either the Metro or school-provided transportation.
  • Conduct Morning Meeting lessons provided by the teaching team.
  • Adapt lessons for Wit and Wisdom and Social Studies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to adapt and innovate in instructional practices.
  • Strong understanding of social-emotional learning principles.
  • Expertise in grade-level standards and school curriculum.
  • Effective classroom management skills in various learning environments.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing operational needs.
  • Commitment to professional development and collaboration.
  • Ability to integrate CapX into the broader school culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in history or related field
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and/or continuing education
