Position: Barista (San Jose)

Job Type: Part Time. Non-exempt.

Pay: $18-$19/hourly, depending on experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

Through two and half years of long preparation, Friends Coffee & Tea celebrated its grand opening on April 19, 2018. Friends Coffee & Tea extends FCSN’s mission by offering job training and employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to sharpen job skills, pursue productive life and secure competitive employment in the community.

JOB DUTIES:

• Greet customers as they enter
• Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare beverages and pastries following recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keep the bar area clean
• Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be reliable, a team player, has good communication skills and be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Needs to have basic baking skill, and likes to make all different drinks and pastries.
• Preferably some experience or studies in education, special needs or with school-aged students.
• Bilingual in Mandarin
