Immigration Attorney

Minimum 3 years experience, having regularly appeared before the immigration court and USCIS on asylum related matters.

INTRODUCTION

The Friedman Law Firm is an office based in Sacramento, CA. We represent clients in immigration matters both locally, and nation-wide. We are currently looking for a well-qualified attorney to join our growing team of professionals.

The firm's core emphasis is on immigration law, with a specific focus on assisting clients with their claims of asylum. It is in this capacity that the new hire would work.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This attorney position will provide in-person consultations for new clients, as well as direct representation. They will meet personally with existing clients, and appear before the immigration court and USCIS. Duties include legal research, drafting motions, declarations, briefs, and appeals for primarily Russian, Ukrainian, Armenian, and Romanian clientele. We have some clientele from South America and Asia, but the bulk of our caseload involves persons from Eastern European nations.

Our full-time and in-person support staff is fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, Armenian, and English. While speaking a foreign language is a benefit, it is not a requirement for this position.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

A person with 3 years of immigration law practice experience. Must have a valid license to practice law in the United States. Licensure with the California State Bar is not required (current membership to any State Bar is sufficient).

The criteria to be considered should include experience and skills such as:

1. Direct representation of clients before USCIS and EOIR.

2. Expertise and able to screen clients for adjustment of status, inadmissibility v. removability issues, Crimmigration, family-based immigration, consular processing, waivers, U and T visas, VAWA, asylum, cancellation of removal, DACA, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and naturalization, including bars to naturalization.

3. Able to work independently.

4. Able to travel on an occasional basis.

5. Able to work in-person at our office in Sacramento, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours.
