This role is responsible for caring for and enriching the lives of animals in the Asia Central department. The animal care team is focused on animal welfare and training, and is seeking a candidate who can work well in a fast-paced team environment, communicate effectively, and adapt quickly to changes. The team is responsible for the care of a variety of animals, including African lions, meerkats, sloth bears, Asian small-clawed otters, Malayan tigers, Sumatran orangutans, siamangs, squirrel monkeys, red ruffed lemurs, and fennec foxes. Although this position will be assigned to the Asia Central team, the Animal Management team may reassign the successful candidate to other sections as needed. The successful candidate will also interact with zoo guests to answer questions, provide animal information, and ensure an excellent guest experience. Previous experience with orangutan husbandry and training would be advantageous.
Part Time: We are pleased to offer this position an Employee Assistance Program, 401K, Paid CA Sick Time earned on an accrued basis. The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00 per hour. Offers will be based on the successful candidate’s experience.
