General Summary:
- This is an operations position responsible for performing product receiving activities, operating and maintaining equipment associated with warehouse activity and performing other related duties as required.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic computer skills.
Essential Duties:
- Checks, inspects, examines and counts all products being unloaded for quality and quantity against Purchase Orders.
- Informs Warehouse management and Merchandising of any discrepancies on purchase orders.
- Makes sure that the drivers are backed up to the proper door and their trailers are secure before unloading begins.
- Documents all overages, shortages and damages.
- Informs Warehouse management and Merchandisers when trucks are late for scheduled appointment times.
- Makes sure that all unwanted product is returned to the truck.
- Ensures that the drivers’ signature is on all paper work.
- Signs all necessary paper work before releasing the truck.
- Works with the Lumper service to ensure timely unloading of the trucks.
- Cleans dock area as needed.
- Performs other warehouse duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- 18 years of age
- High school education/GED or 6 months related warehouse experience or training
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous receiving experience with warehouse management software

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience
- Up to 1 year related warehouse experience or training.
- Previous forklift operation experience.
- Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Must be trained and certified for operating a forklift.
- Professional Skills
- Ability to work with specific computer software, specifically, Sysco Warehouse Management System (SWMS) and Gagnon.
- Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Work efficiently at a rapid pace.
- Good attendance.
- Can work in a team atmosphere.
- Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple but detailed instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Mathematical Skills
- Can add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
- Reasoning Ability
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
