Position Summary:

The Manager, Demand Planning, leads the team running the forecasting engine which drives FreshDirect’s product procurement. In addition to providing team leadership, this role runs forecasting models to create product forecasts based on anticipated customer demand, with the goal of maintaining strong in-stock positions and service levels. Responsibilities also include collaborating with various teams to achieve drive forecasting accuracy. Effective communication with non-technical colleagues is essential, as is an appetite for continuous learning and process improvement.

Essential Functions:

• Lead team of FreshDirect Demand Planners, driving best practices and operational excellence across product forecasting for all categories
• Run weekly forecasting process and participate in continuously improving the forecasting methodologies.
• Develop tools to enable collaboration between the Demand Planning group and other key stakeholders within the Merchandising organization.
• Partner with third-party partners on developing new models to drive process efficiency and scale our forecasts effectively.
• Achieve consensus for forecasts by collaborating with merchandising, purchasing, marketing and operations teams.
• Partner with Category Management team to forecast promotional impacts.
• Analyze forecast error, service levels and scrap to improve service and reduce scrap.
• Communicate with non-technical colleagues how the forecast is evolving with business changes.
• Manipulate and manage data sets with good governance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• APICS or other forecasting certification preferred.
• Bright, fast learner, experienced Excel user
• Demand planning and/or production planning experience preferred.
• SAP systemic production planning (PP) experience (BOMS / Routings)
• Expertise with Microsoft Office, Access, VBA, SQL.
• Typical Experience: 5-8 years

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Problem solver with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to present numerical data in a concise, logical, and useful manner.
• Ability to interpret complex data from multiple sources.
• Able to write for and work with a wide range of audiences
• Proven organizational and time management skills.

• Adept at working in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment, with an appetite for continuous learning
• Strong follow-up skills in managing requests and projects that span several weeks
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively

• Some Project Management experience. Ability to lead mid- to large-sized projects
