Frenchman's Creek Beach & Country Club is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Job DescriptionJob Title: Staff AccountantDepartment: AccountingReports To: ControllerFLSA Status: Non-Exempt SUMMARY: Performs various accounting functions including GL reconciliations and working directly with the bank to solve cash discrepancies; assists with the preparation of financial reports for the community; supervises the payroll function and sets up checkpoints to verify the accuracy of significant balances; supervises the staff accounting staff members to resolve member and employee discrepancies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintains Month-End journal entries to accrue taxes—Sales & Use Tax on Purchases
  • Set up a contract labor report, and update and distribute the report to the managers involved.
  • Update revenue, transfers, and write-off data on the daily receiving report to keep managers constantly updated with their costs. During the month and at month end review the GL detail of the cost accounts to ensure the postings match the receiving report. Solve any discrepancies.
  • Reviews 201 comps monthly and reviews for out of the ordinary charges. Tracks trends and works with department managers to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Review accounts 5172, 5173 & 5174 to make sure receiving has corresponding posted invoices, establishing continuous communication with the Golf Shop manager to ensure a clear ending balance on the accounts.
  • Revenue and Payroll updates:
    • Review all chits from the previous day for accurate charges, update them into Jonas, and create and publish the revenue report.
    • Review the Miss Punch Report and make sure managers have fixed them. Create and publish the payroll report.
  • Check with managers to ensure all the inventory/cost-related invoices get posted in a timely manner.
  • Establish the monthly physical inventory count schedule.
  • Review the inventory spreadsheets for accuracy – i.e., compare to the handwritten worksheet, tie bottle counts from the handwritten to the Excel spreadsheet.
  • Prepares and Maintains month-end Journal Entries
  • Audit/Back-up Payroll Processing
  • A/P and A/R Duties as needed.
  • Other Duties as needed.
  • Oversees special projects as assigned.

Education And/Or ExperienceHigh School or Equivalent
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Computer Equipment and SoftwareKnowledge of Jonas Software—helpful; Windows-based spreadsheet/word processing package.
