Position Overview:

The French American International School is looking for an excellent, engaged, English-speaking teacher to join our dynamic team. The teacher will teach an American curriculum to primary school-aged children. The teacher will need to be able to integrate into a bilingual teaching team, where French and American curricula are blended to provide one curriculum in two languages. They will need to possess a familiarity with many ways of approaching a subject, a willingness to develop ones own materials and be open to learning new methods. Due to the diverse nature of our School, the teacher will need to be sensitive and open to the multiple cultural backgrounds of the students, to be collaborative, and exhibit a sense of internationalism in the work environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Create a nurturing, safe classroom community with, and for, students
  • Implement French American curricula in a way that fosters student engagement, collaboration, creativity, and curiosity
  • Adapt to the bilingual environment and teaching methods of the school
  • Utilize continuous formative assessment to inform the teaching practice
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
  • Collaborate with teaching peers to foster student support and curricular alignment
  • Communicate frequently with families
  • Attend regular meetings as needed
  • Successfully complete other professional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Teaching credential or Masters required
  • Three or more years of successful teaching experience
  • Commitment to student social-emotional well-being; experience with Responsive Classroom preferred
  • Experience with Reading and Writing Workshop strongly preferred
  • Experience with an inquiry-based science approach preferred
  • Experience teaching with various digital resources to promote student engagement and autonomy preferred
  • Ability to understand French a plus

Salary range for this position $66,402-$108,420 depending upon experience and qualifications.
