Position Overview

As a School Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. You will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, and outside agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes the overall well-being of our diverse student body.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions for students from Grade 1 through Grade 4. Assisting students in developing coping strategies and social skills, and coordinating with families and teachers to be part of the support as needed.
  • Be ready to provide immediate support for students in crisis and ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Connect families to external resources as needed, such as mental health services and/or therapists, community organizations, social service agencies, etc.
  • Deliver Social-Emotional Learning lessons during scheduled times across grade levels to address developmentally appropriate topics.
  • Cultivate relationships with students and faculty that promote general wellness among Grade 1-Grade 4 students
  • Provide counseling support and “case management” for individual students as needed.
  • Take part in duties that support student and school life, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field preferred.
  • State certification or licensure as a School Counselor preferred
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, behavior management, and counseling techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Commitment to working in an inclusive and diverse community
  • Ability to promote the French American International School mission and values
  •  Bilingual in French a plus

Salary range for this position $62,567 - $105,598 depending on experience and qualifications.
