Linux OTA EngineerNewark, CA

Responsibilities:

• Build over-the-air plan for deployment of software, firmware, and OS updates to Linux embedded devices.
• Architect a new deployment strategy that moves away from current OTA framework, to allow flexibility and remove redundancies for remote updates.
• Develop embedded Linux base OS using Yocto or other comparable tools and practices.
• Manage issues relating to OTA and Linux OS deployment and operation.
• Interface with system/application engineers to develop and specify OS and OTA software requirements.
• Support related teams like charger testing, validation, and deployment.
• Write processes and procedures defining strategies for OTA and Linux development.

Requirements:

• 7 years’ experience working in OTA and Linux development environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in OTA update feature, technical logic, and operation process.
• Ability to provide design, solution, development strategies independently.
• Strong working knowledge with Linux systems, Linux Kernel internals, and Linux directory structure.
• Possess strong initiative, problem solving skills, and ability to work in a diverse and distributed team environment.
• Have strong experience with over-the-air upgrades to the software and firmware of an embedded system.

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field.
• Have knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, CANBUS, TCP/IP.
• Proficient with edge computing principles and architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD strategies.
