POSITION OBJECTIVE: Plan, prepare, and deliver student centered lessons while providing instructional materials that facilitate active learning in the contents of English and Social Studies using sound judgment consistent with the rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Primary LOVE of teaching and learning, believing every child can learn, be collaborative, bring joy and kindness to school each day.Responsibilities: Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content.Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.Responsible for mentoring students understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate.Responsible for effective management of the classroom environment; maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment in order to optimize student capabilities and develop their love of learning. Responsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student earning, including, for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and\or second language learnersResponsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessness.Responsible for communication in writing and verbally to provide for the triangle of home-school-classroom learning success.Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.Social/Civic Expectations: Freetown-Lakeville students will: practice responsible citizenship; respect self and others; accept responsibility; and work cooperatively.Required Qualifications: Massachusetts DESE license in Elementary Education 1-6SEI EndorsementBA DegreePreferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in the content areas of ELA, social studiesDemonstrated experience supporting students on 504 plansExperience teaching students who are English language learnersCandidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years).
