Host/Hostess Job Description

The successful, Host/Hostess makes sure that their guests feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. They create a warm and welcoming environment for patrons from the moment they enter our establishment. Hosts or Hostesses typically provide menus, take names for reservations, and answer the phone.

JOB RESPOSIBILITY:

• Greet guests with a smile as they enter the restaurant.
• Assist guests to their tables.
• Answer telephone calls and record reservations.
• Track tables for availability and communicate to the wait staff.
• Must be well versed in POS system.
• Answer questions about the menu and restaurant.
• Assist restaurant wait staff when time permits.
• Assist with cleaning tasks and other assignments when necessary.

JOB DUTIES:

• Ability to accept directions and priorities from Supervisor and reliably follow-through on tasks.
• Ability to perform job duties with a minimum of disruption to the guest.
• Ability to be friendly and cheerful; interacts easily with strangers.
• Ability to lead, cooperate, and support others.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Ability to be proactive and always thinking of the future.
• Ability to safely work with cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals including vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops, etc.
• Good hand dexterity required.
• Grooming must meet Employee Handbook Standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 2 years of customer service, hospitality service, or restaurant service required.
• Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Punctuality, ready to work when arriving for shifts.
• Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Availability to work in shifts, during weekends and evenings.
• The employee is required to stand for long periods of time, lift to or over 50 pounds, kneel, stoop and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

REPORTS TO:

The Host/Hostess report directly to the Food and Beverage Manager

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $14.00 per hour
