Freese and Nichols, Inc. is Hiring a Remote BIM/CAD Designer

Freese and Nichols is seeking a BIM/CAD Designer. Though our preference is to have someone in our corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, we are open to considering people in any of our locations. As BIM/CAD Designer, you will be a member of our Business Technology team. You will help document production processes and train on workflows as well as help identify design needs and do the work. You will help extend our BIM/CAD capabilities, helping us scale solutions as we grow as an organization. Responsibilities include: Understanding the project requirements, scope of work, and deliverables Providing leadership in taking a wholistic view of the project and making independent project level decisions that are trusted by the engineers Preparing detail and layout drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge Performing discipline design tasks which regularly require the application of fundamental engineering concept with limited input and direction from the engineer or architect Providing conceptual input to projects during the planning stages Delegating and supervising tasks assigned to Designers and Technicians Coordinating design with other disciplines and coordinates work sharing within team Ensuring output is professional, consistent with prevailing standards and satisfies project requirements Interfacing with other departments, clients, vendors, and project engineers in order to support project production Providing training, guidance and mentorship to staff Participating in interviewing other positions on this ladder and makes hiring recommendations Performing quality control on deliverables and incorporating continuous improvement into work processes. Developing and implementing new processes as required to ensure consistent quality Potentially leading CAD activities on projects Potentially managing CAD library for discipline Potentially managing CAD staff Qualifications 12 years' experience in BIM/CAD drafting and design with a broad base in engineering design and technical support of engineering High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Associate's degree in CAD At Freese and Nichols, everyone on our team gets to make a meaningful difference in our communities.
