Summary

Directly supervises and coordinates the activities of an assigned team of up to 8 employees for the specialized function of 3D Production across multiple locations, including hybrid and remote workers. Strategically and tactically conceive and visualize ideas, narratives, content, conceptual and technical experiences spatially; Partner with other disciplines for interpretation of concepts into technical drawings that drive fabrication, pricing, delivery, and inventory management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

3D PRODUCTION DESIGN
  • Participates in client conferences on an as-needed basis, providing design expertise, product knowledge and industry experience while aiding the Customer Sales Representative for focused deliverables.
  • Functions as a subject matter expert for medium to high-complexity Show Organizer projects.
  • Communicates with and presents concepts and ideas to clients.
  • Develops a genuine understanding of the client’s brand, products, needs and objectives, as well as the motivations behind customers’ intentions for their event(s).
  • Collaborates with strategy, Growth, and additional designers (if applicable) to determine project approach and establish design parameters based on opportunity, time frame and budget.
  • Designs assemblies that have aesthetic appeal, are practical (from a cost perspective), and can clearly communicate the client’s message, concept, and image to their audience.
  • Analyzes applicable tradeshow codes, guidelines, rules and regulations, space and site requirements, facility requirements, operational needs, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on their assemblies.
  • Collaborates closely with account team, project managers, estimating and detailing to ensure solutions are structurally and financially viable.
  • Understands modular build systems such as BeMatrix, Moss EZ Wall, Agam, Octanorm, etc. as well as custom fabrication and graphic production.
  • Meets deadlines and manages multiple and competing priorities.
  • Has a strong grasp of basic design principles and techniques to perform tasks.
  • Works with AutoCAD/FreemanCAD, Vault, 3D, and Adobe CS – InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Utilizes electronic file management systems and related software to appropriately create and maintain all pertinent digital files and records according to established practices and procedures.
  • Employs CADD file maintenance standards, practices, and procedures as directed.
  • Utilizes time accounting software to maintain accurate individual records of times worked, including time spent working on assigned projects or performing other assigned duties.
SUPERVISOR
  • Supervises the work of Production Designers to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems as they arise.
  • Prepares and issues work schedules, ensuring deadlines and assignments are effectively managed in collaboration with other departments.
  • Provides employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Resolves internal customer complaints and answers questions regarding policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the work of employees to facilitate productivity or to overcome difficult aspects of work.
  • Reviews records and reports pertaining to activities such as production, payroll, and billability to verify details, monitor work activities, and evaluate performance.
  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, and retention of employees.
  • Evaluates employees' job performance and conformance to company policies and recommends appropriate action to management.
  • Research, compile, and prepare reports, manuals, correspondence, or other information required by management.
  • Makes recommendations to management concerning such issues as staffing decisions, employee compensation, or procedural changes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years’ design experience in the tradeshow and/or exhibit industry
  • Autodesk AutoCAD 2018 or later
  • 3D Studio Max (preferred)
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Adobe CS
  • Microsoft Office
  • General knowledge of modular build systems such as BeMatrix, Moss EZ Wall, Agam, Octanorm
  • General knowledge of custom fabrication and graphic production
