Freedom To Recover Counseling and Treatment Center is Hiring a CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COUNSELOR Near Columbus, OH

Job Summary: Provides one or more of the following services, depending on training, education, experience, certification and licensure: case management, chemical dependency counseling, and/or related services to clients based on individualized service plans. Supervised by: Clinical Supervisor or Designee, who has the qualifications to supervise the provisions of services within their scope of practice Supervisory Responsibilities: • LCDC II, LCDC III, LICDC or LICDC-S: May supervise designated chemical dependency counselors based on credentials and experience. Duties/Responsibilities: • Under the direction of a qualified supervisor, and consistent with a client’s Individual Treatment / Service Plan, provides services that support the client’s goals and objectives and improves the overall functioning of the client • Services may include SUD case management, chemical dependency counseling and/or linkages to other community resources. • Depending on credentials, may also provide ongoing assessment of needs, coordination of client Individual Service Plans, case coordination/management and mental health interventions. • Documents progress notes clearly and thoroughly in the electronic health record within agency timelines. • Strives to meet the agency’s productivity requirements of the position. • Collaborates and communicates with other staff members to ensure high-quality treatment and coordination of care. • Maintains log of required supervision (one hour for every 40 hours worked) with date, time/duration, and general topic(s) discussed with supervisor. (If group supervision, Supervisor may provide supervision notes/summary.) • Attends and participates actively in multi-disciplinary team meetings. • Follows agency policies and procedures, and complies with federal, state and legal regulations; contractual requirements and mandated reporting rules. • Maintains client confidence and confidentiality per agency policy and federal law in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the US Dept of HHS 42 CFR Part 2 Revised Rule for the treatment of substance use disorder. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: • Knowledge and understanding of the following: o SUD treatment; alcohol, opioids and other substances depending on job focus and duties o Community behavioral health system, social services systems, the criminal justice system, and other healthcare systems; o Substance use disorder symptoms and their impact on functioning and behavior; o How to therapeutically engage with a person in the process of substance use disorder treatment and recovery;o Crisis response procedures; o De-escalation techniques and an understanding of how the individual’s own behavior can impact the behavior of others • Additional competency requirements may be required based on services to be performed, characteristics and needs of the persons to be served, and skills appropriate to the position. • Ability to set and maintain healthy boundaries with clients • Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and rapport-building skills • Ability to be productive and manage time in the best interest of the clients and agency • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with electronic health records system • Ability to convey a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the agency. Licensure, Education, Experience and Training: LICENSE: Must be licensed by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board For LCDC II: A minimum of an Associate's degree in a behavioral science*, Nursing OR a Bachelor's in any field from an accredited school or university • For LCDC III: A Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science* or nursing (ONLY) • For LICDC: Master's degree in a behavioral science*or Nursing that contains a minimum of 40 semester hours earned with documentation of coursework in ten specific content areas on the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board Maters Degree Grid. *Behavioral science degree = study of human behavior or nursing as a focus and at least 27 semester credit hours of the following or additional courses as approved by the board: human services, addictions, chemical dependency, social work, criminal justice, corrections, psychology, child development, counseling, personnel and industrial relations, vocational rehabilitation counseling, sociology. Minimum of one year related experience required. TRAINING: Must have training in specific population served by the agency, and current training in CPR, First-Aid and de-escalation techniques (may be provided by agency) Physical Requirements: • Alternating periods of sitting, standing and moving while meeting needs of clients • May travel by car in community to see clients and see clients in homes or community settings • Must have valid current Ohio driver’s license and carry current auto insurance compliant with Ohio requirements.
