Freedom Motors USA, Inc. is Hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer Near Battle Creek, MI
POSITION SUMMARY:The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles, with a specific focus on automotive systems and components. You’ll be designing and building wheelchair-accessible vehicles and all of the components that are involved with them.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with electrical, software, and other subsystems. You’ll conduct performance testing and analysis to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software
- Support manufacturing and production teams to ensure a smooth transition from design to production
- Draw layouts, part detailing, and GD&T
- Stay current with emerging automotive technologies and trends to drive innovation within the organization
- Integrate mechanical, electronic, and control systems for optimal performance into our products
- May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
- May develop into a Vice President of Engineering role
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components for automotive or other chassis, suspensions, and/or crashworthiness
- Conduct thorough analysis and testing to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and safety of mechanical designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems into overall product designs.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with SOLIDWORKS and FEA
- Experience and/or familiarity with CARB (California Air and Resource Board)
- Experience and or familiarity with crash testing desired
- Minimum of [5] years of experience in mechanical design and development
