Responsible for overseeing surgical scheduling for Cancer Surgery which encompasses gastroenterology, the colon and rectal cancer surgery program, the GU Multidisciplinary cancer clinic, and providing cross coverage in Chest Surgery. Duties will include scheduling surgical procedures both Hospital and Ambulatory based, scheduling patient follow-up visits; obtaining prior insurance authorizations, scheduling diagnostic tests, and maintaining the medical record. Supports the Mission of Frederick Health and complies with the health system’s Code of Conduct.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
A. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Preferred two year medical secretary, health information technology program or minimum of one year medical office experience required.
B. Knowledge of scheduling required.
C. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
D. Excellent customer service skills required.
E. Must demonstrate excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office. Experience with NextGen and Meditech software a plus.
F. Must be organized and able to multitask with attention to detail.
