Frederick Health is Hiring a Cafeteria Team Member - Full-time (72 hours bi-weekly) Near Frederick, MD

This Full-time Opportunity will work 72 hours bi-weekly, varying 8 hours shifts between the hours of 5:30a - 8:00p.

Every Other Weekend Required.

**ADDITIONAL PAY FOR SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL**

Job Summary

The Cafeteria Team Member is responsible for preparing, cooking, storing and serving food to patrons of the Cafeteria in a courteous and professional manner. They will follow all safety and sanitation regulations and operate using the appropriate equipment, technique and utensils assuring portion control. They will work within the Department budget for Cafeteria revenue and participate in promotions as needed.

Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

Example of Essential Functions:

  • Greets customers within 30 seconds of arrival
  • Smiles, is courteous and says “may I help you and thank you” to all customers
  • Complaints are managed properly and brought to managers attention
  • Takes temperatures on food items prior to service and records in appropriate book
  • Takes corrective action and either: informs manager if food is not up to appropriate standard; reheats food to appropriate temperature or discards if needed
  • Takes temperatures on refrigerator and freezer and records on appropriate log
  • Takes corrective action and calls POM if equipment Is not working properly
  • Uses clean gloves and changes gloves when soiled
  • Keeps assigned station clean
  • Sweeps floor, mops floor and empties trash if needed
  • Uses red sanitizer bucket and appropriate cleaning cloths at each assigned station
  • Follows all recipes when producing food items
  • Does not over produce food items, keeps them at appropriate par levels
  • Starts food preparation at assigned time
  • FIFO practices are consistently exercised
  • Rotates and consolidates food product to minimize waste/loss
  • Follows and understands HACCP guidelines
  • If assigned to grill position, does “batch cooking” for all grill items at appropriate times and appropriate quantities
  • Uses proper utensil for food items and puts in correct container
  • Communicates appropriately and professionally with co-workers
  • Assists co-workers in all others areas of Cafeteria
  • Helps when no customers are at assigned station
  • Willingly takes on extra assignments and station changes

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in the use of computer software including: Microsoft Word, Excel, email and Meditech recommended.
  • Must be able to read and interpret recipes and temperature devices.
  • Knowledge of food handling, preparation and safety recommended.
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills in order to effectively interact with patrons of the Cafeteria, managers and co-workers.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Requires 1-year previous food service experience.
  • Must be able to work 5:30am-8:00pm.

Physical Demands:

Medium Work – Lifting up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 25 pounds while walking.Pushing or pulling up to 75 pounds infrequently or up to 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour).

Awkward Posture:Posture is the position your body is in and its effect on the muscle groups that are involved in the physical activity.Awkward postures include repeated or prolonged reaching, twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, working overhead with your hands or arms, or holding fixed positions 

Contact Stress:Pressing the body hard on sharp edges can result in placing too much pressure on nerves, tendons, and blood vessels.For example, using the palm of your hand to hit or stick objects can increase risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
