    Salary
    • Support Salary Scale Grade S15: $32.75
    Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act this position is non-exempt from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System.
    Role
    The Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Warehouse Supervisor has the responsibility of coordinating all FNS warehousing operations. Responsibilities included, but not limited to, receiving, distribution, storing supplies, and record-keeping.
    Essential Functions
    Reporting directly to the FNS Supervisor of Operations, the FNS Warehouse Supervisor performs the following duties:
    • Perform administrative duties, which include employees’ evaluations, hiring, and personnel actions; in addition to conducting staff meetings, budgetary responsibilities, policies and procedures development, and organizational efficiency analysis.
    • Manages FNS Drivers and FNS Warehouse Specialists to include daily duties and attendance.
    • Packs/unpacks, loads/unloads incoming or outgoing inventory and equipment verify contents of shipment as to descriptions, quantity, quality, and condition according to information shown on shipping documents, contracts and/or purchase request.
    • Inspects stored or received inventory for damage, segregate damaged material, containers and/or supplies, and properly dispose per procedure.
    • Coordinate warehouse deliveries; including USDA donated commodities, processed commodities, purchased food and supplies.
    • Review daily delivery schedule to assure accurate and expedient deliveries.
    • Answers telephone, assist with caller inquiries on warehouse inventory, protocol, procedures, terminology, and processes.
    • Investigate discrepancies with FSV and inventories. Prepare and process all required reports and paperwork.
    • Contact FNS procurement coordinator to ensure supplies are delivered according to requested specifications and to settle any discrepancies regarding item quantity, damage, quality, etc.
    • Maintain inventory files, records, and documentation systems.
    • Supervise and maintain the warehouse stock and inventory organizational systems and procedures.
    • Safeguard, protect, store, and preserve inventory by properly using packaging, packing materials, and other storage aids.
    • Inspect, maintain, and operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including manual/electric forklifts, handcarts, and dollies, to load, unload, relocate, palletize, and segregate inventory and equipment.
    • Operates, maintains, inspects and services Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including manual/electric forklifts, handcarts, and dollies.
    • Communicate with school managers regarding warehouse daily deliveries.
    • Manages recalled food items; for incoming items from schools and reporting to authorities.
    • Schedule routine maintenance on FNS vehicles.
    • Make appropriate arrangements when emergency situations occur.
    • Enter in work orders, as needed, for FNS areas.
    • Consistent attendance record.
    Other Essential Functions.
    • Position is on-call twenty-four hours for emergencies.
    • Maintain and coordinate warehouse security.
    • Assure warehouse is maintained according to safety policies and procedures.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
    Performs other duties as assigned by the FNS Supervisor of Operations.
    Required Qualifications
    Education/Training/Experience
    • Associate Degree in Business Management/Administration; Purchasing, Accounting or a related field.
    • Five (5) years’ experience in receiving, warehousing, packaging, shipping, or other related operations may substitute for education requirement.
    Certification/License
    • Certification of Food and Nutrition Services Sanitation.
    • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices.
    • Knowledge of computerized accounting and/or inventory systems.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form. Proven ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse group of employees, managers, supervisors and other professionals/paraprofessionals.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel or other Database Management systems.
    • Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
    • Regular and predictable attendance.
    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
    • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
    • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
    • Sufficient manual dexterity to grasp, handle, manipulate, and/or feel objects and use office technology.

    • Sufficient hearing to hear and comprehend conversations in person and on the telephone, as well as distinguish sounds up to twenty (20) feet.
    • Occasionally climb or balance.
    • Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Education/Training/Experience
    • BS/BA Degree in Business Management/Administration, Accounting or a related field.
    • Seven (7) years warehouse experience in a distribution/warehouse or purchasing setting.
    • Demonstrated experience doing complex multitasking, problem solving and deadline-oriented work.
    • Warehouse management experience in a public-school system.
    • Two (2) or more years supervising five (5) or more persons in accounting, warehousing, inventory management or a related operation.
    • Work experience in an organization or company working under Union Contracts and Memorandums of Understanding or in a union organizational environment.
    • Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs.
