12/20/2022 Next STEPS (NS) is a voluntary program for Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) students in grades 6-12 transitioning from hospitalization for psychiatric treatment back to their comprehensive school environment. Substitutes should be open to in person specialized training to prepare to work with this unique student population. The program is located on the Heather Ridge School (HRS) campus, but the students and staff of HRS and NS do not co-mingle for education purposes. The work day is 7:15 AM to 2:45 PM for full days and 11:05 AM to 2:45 PM for half days. No hourly substitute positions are available.
Daily Substitute Teacher
As an at-will employee, the Daily Substitute Teacher can accept or decline assignments from the Frontline Absence Management System based on availability and interest. Teaching plans will be provided for daily assignments.
As an applicant for the Daily Substitute Teacher position, you will also have the opportunity to express an interested in the following:
Long Term Substitute Teacher - Assumes the responsibility of the classroom teacher, to include, planning, grading and instruction. Long Term Substitute assignments last a minimum of ten days.
Minimum Requirements - Must possess a minimum of an AA degree or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution.
Salary:
Daily Substitute Teacher - $21.00 an hour, up to 35 hours a week
Long Term Substitute Teacher - $22.34 an hour, 35 hours per week
Special Education Instructional Assistant Substitute/Charter School Instructional Assistant Substitute
Minimum Requirement - Most possess a high school diploma or GED
Salary:
$15.36 an hour, up to 35 hours per week
