Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Research Technician II role is responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work supporting scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling, and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs, and summaries.

This position will work with members of the laboratory of Dr. Taran Gujral in the Division of Human Biology. This position provides a rich environment to learn about cell biology and the drug discovery process. Candidates will also have the opportunity to present their research during lab meetings and scientific conferences and to write, submit, and publish scientific papers.

Responsibilities

• Culture and maintain a collection of cell lines
• Prepare samples and carry out biochemical and PCR-based assays
• Assist in mouse experiments
• Use various software packages to analyze data from assays. 
• Will work independently and as part of a team. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of professional lab research experience required
• Experience with tissue culture and standard molecular biological techniques (DNA and RNA extraction, cloning, sequencing, etc.), protein isolation and analysis (gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, etc.), and microbiology techniques preferred.
• Prior experience with small animal handling preferred.
• Attention to detail, time management and organization skills, and a high level of initiative are required.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $25.71 to $36.60 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
