The DEI Projects Specialist is a position within the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Core, a highly collaborative and strategic department that creates, guides, and executes the strategic DEI plan for the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. The DEI Core is led by the Vice President and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer (VPCDIO), and currently has several other professionals engaged in DEI practice.

Reporting to the Administrative Manager, Operations & Initiatives, the DEI Projects Specialist supports the presentation of educational modules, conducts research and assigned special projects in alignment with Fred Hutch core values and the strategic vision of the Vice President and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer.

This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

Responsibilities

The DEI Projects Specialist is a key, versatile resource for the entire DEI Core. Specific assignments will be made by the Administrative Manager, Operations & Initiatives based on priorities and needs which will vary on a regular basis. Anticipated responsibilities are described below:

  • Execute on range of assigned DEI projects and tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Research of various DEI issues, and conduct benchmarking of DEI best practices
    • Development of presentations and reports
    • Supporting DEI Core program development, design and assessments
    • Special projects to enhance administrative operations of the DEI Core
  • Serve as co/presenter or facilitator for a learning project or educational program
  • Provide capabilities to augment other DEI Core team members on various assignments and projects, including education and learning programs, working with employee resource and affinity groups, DEI events, etc. 
  • Assist in executing internal affinity group initiatives and projects with external collaborators as assigned
  • Engage in ongoing and relevant professional development activities appropriate to this position
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years’ work experience required. Professional experience may substitute for educational requirement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-oppression and other key principles and practices of DEI.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-changing work environment with many demands.
  • Strong research and information finding skills; ability to process large chunks of information quickly.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills; able to move from one project to another seamlessly.
  • Attentive to details and strong organization, coordination skills.
  • Strong technical skills for developing or designing presentations, reports, etc.
  • Good project management skills, able to maintain focus and track progress for multiple projects in a timely way.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Agile and adaptable approach to work, as well as the ability to navigate a variety of colleague work styles.
  • Strong and confident time management skills.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $67,728 to $99,237, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
