PURPOSE The purpose of the position of Baler Operator is to prepare scrapped and other waste paperboard for recycling by arranging the paperboard in banded bales and placing in a trailer for transport to recycling facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Load scrap / waste paperboard into the baler to yield compacted, banded bundles of paperboard for recycling.

Perform general housekeeping functions in the baling room to minimize excess scrap and / or banding materials on floors.

Perform all other duties as assigned. Fax daily scrap counts to approved recycling company. Remove all trash bags from facility and keep all dumpster areas clean.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Baling Room is an area attached to the Die Cutting Department that contains 2 balers and 1 loading dock.

Containers of scrapped paperboard, or other waste paperboard, is delivered to the baling room to be compactly prepared for recycling.

The Baler Operator is responsible for all facets of compacting waste and scrap paperboard. The Baler Operator is responsible for communicating workflow status / issues and any storage / safety issues to management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION This position requires the ability to move among equipment and storage containers in the Baler Room.

This position requires the ability to use a forklift and / or pallet jack to move scrap containers and baled waste. This position requires the ability to lean, reach, and lift to load waste into baler (not to exceed 35 lbs.
