Description

JOB SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing existing production equipment while focusing on safety, customer satisfaction, quality, and productivity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Perform preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels
Perform emergency/breakdown maintenance as necessary to support plant operations
Accurately use measurement and test equipment
Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations as needed
Install wire and conduit for newly installed and existing equipment such as conveyors, programmable controllers, converting and corrugating machinery
Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches & motors, position sensing devices such as proximity switch timers, scanners, and photoelectric devices
Diagnose and repair/replace faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards
Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems and drives, i.e., AC and DC
Read electrical block diagrams, schematics as well as PLC ladder logic
Maintain clean and organized work areas and clean up work areas as part of completing the assigned task
Accurately and completely prepare and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork
Maintain teamwork with other associates
Maintain equipment to optimize run ability through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machines.
Accurately complete administrative documents and follow directions
Routine fault finding, testing, manufacturing, replacing, isolation, modifying, inspecting, improving, installing, maintaining, and repairing all plant mechanical equipment compliant with specifications.
Work with specifications and drawings, ensuring completion and minimizing waste within set dates and times.
Ensure the maintenance and preventive maintenance of corrugating plant process equipment to achieve world-class results; ensure all equipment is running properly and meets operational requirements.
Work with the maintenance team to carry out maintenance and repair projects in mechanical, fabrication, plumbing, and welding functions.
Troubleshoot, repair, and make adjustments to high-speed packaging lines
Ensure critical issues are handled and communicated appropriately prior to leaving shift
Maintain strong floor presence at all times
Document / convey all repairs and issues for the next shift
Report any quality or safety issues to the shift supervisor and implement corrective and preventive action for these issues where possible
Comply with all safety procedures
Ability to work overtime at short notice; flexible with work hours and willing to work alternative shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
Other corrective and preventive maintenance duties to be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Other related projects to be assigned by the manager from time to time.

Qualifications


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
High School Diploma or GED
Additional schooling in electrical and mechanical preferred
3 years of electrical and mechanical experience
Minimum of 6 months of corrugator manufacturing experience; overall maintenance functions
At least 2 years of experience as an Industrial Controls Technician or Maintenance Mechanic
Experience repairing and maintaining both electrical Controls and mechanical systems in accordance with mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics, operations manuals, PLC programs, and manufacturer’s specifications
Experience troubleshooting high-packaging equipment
Technical experience, reliability, and the ability to work independently.
Troubleshooting skills in industrial, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures.
Three-phase electrical knowledge to 480 VAC
Knowledge of AC/DC motors and drives
PLC knowledge and troubleshooting skills
Advanced computer skills as it relates to troubleshooting ladder logic programs and scaling systems
Technically competent with reading electrical and mechanical drawings
Ability to troubleshoot utilizing schematics
Strong attention to detail
Strong work ethic with emphasis on safety PMs, product line changeovers, and/or repairs and maintenance of all plant equipment as needed
Ability to understand and read PLC logic
Strong familiarity with packaging equipment a plus
Strong mechanical and electrical (corrugator manufacturing preferred) background, AC/DC motor control, troubleshooting, precision alignment, motor replacement, pneumatic troubleshooting, encoder basics, Signode bander troubleshooting, module facer knowledge, rotary steam joint repair knowledge, familiar with all sorts of shop equipment (lathe, wire welding, stick welding, plasma cutting, torch heating, cutting, brazing, air compressor maintenance knowledge. Note- this is not an exhaustive list.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and instruction books.
Knowledge of computers and automated machines
