GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Responsible for packaging material for shipment and ensuring that all labels are accurate based on customer’s requirements.

Maintains shipment-related records.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive shipments, confirms shipments are accurate, and maintain receiving logs.
• Prepares and reviews for accuracy all bills of lading on shipments.
• Routes orders to meet the company’s and customers’ requirements.
• Tracks and expedites outbound shipments with carriers. Schedules truck line and other carrier pickups and distribution.
• Maintains records such as (but not limited to) invoices and vendor receipts. Verifies shippers’ rates and resolve issues.
• Processes normal and special shipments.
• Participates in physical inventories and cycle counts.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Skills and Abilities

• ForkLift Operations (preferred)
• Basic knowledge of computers
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Highly self-motivated

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED equivalent (required).
• 1 year experience in a shipping department (required).

Computer Skills

Basic understanding of computer software such as the Microsoft Office suite.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is :

• Continually required to stand or walk and to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
