Summary:

This position is responsible for providing professionalcivil engineering services to our clients.

Responsibilities Include:

• Develop engineering designs including plan, profile, crosssection, paving, grading and utility details.
• Generate engineering plans using AutoCAD C3D.
• Perform construction quantity estimates.
• Cross-train in all civil engineering disciplines, includingpavement, grading, drainage, water, signing and pavement marking, storm waterpollution prevention and traffic control.
• Coordinate plans, calculations and specifications amongstmulti-discipline engineering team and sub consultants.
• Ensure designs, plans and calculations are complete andaccurate. 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of civilengineering related to the design, construction, and maintenance of publicworks projects.
• Knowledge of the methods, equipment, and materials used insurface and underground construction and maintenance.
• Knowledge of floodplain regulations as it relates todevelopment of property.
• Proficient in AutoCAD C3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer(MicroStation/GEOPAK), and ArcGIS.
• Skill in use of roadway, water, sewer, and drainagecriteria.
• Skill in interpreting engineering specifications.
• Ability to apply local, state, and federal regulationspertaining to engineering design and construction administration.
• Ability to organize and coordinate materials, informationand resources associated with engineering projects.
• Ability to use independent judgment and make sounddecisions.
• Must have effective organizational and time managementskills.
• Must have polished and proven people skills with a focus ofbeing able to interact well with a diverse population and provide excellentcustomer service.
• Skill in public speaking and ability to make effectivepresentations to a variety of audiences.
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writingincluding proficient listening skills, rules of grammar, practices of documentpreparation, and conveying technical information in a tactful, concise, andeasily understood manner. 

Experience/Qualifications Include:

• Bachelor of Science Degree (or Master’s Degree) in CivilEngineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, or EIT
• Minimum of two years related experience in public worksprojects
• Experience in Flood Plain Management; Certified FloodplainManager preferred
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Plan, execute and manage the design of public worksconstruction projects
• Knowledge and experience in reviewing construction plans
• Knowledge of TxDOT, federal and local regulations
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills in dealingwith clients
