Job Summary:

Coordinate and direct activities and projects related to maintenance, engineering, and automation.

General Tasks:

  • Overseeing a team of multi-disciplined engineers in the completion of engineering projects.
  • Oversee the repairs, installations and upkeep of various buildings, offices, and other facilities.
  • Oversee the maintenance operation and processes related.
  • Ensure operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair.
  • Ensure that company premises and facilities are kept in clean and hygienic condition.
  • Implement workplace safety policies and standards.
  • Designing maintenance procedures, tracking budgets and expenses, and performing inspections on different facilities to find problems and coordinate repairs.
  • Hiring and training qualified staff, setting project budgets and timelines for completion and helping their staff run tests or troubleshoot issues.
  • Making determinations for equipment, staff, and training needs.
  • Proposing project and program budgets.
  • Hiring and supervising staff.
  • Ensuring the validity of methods used by staff.
  • Coordinating work with other directors/managers and staff.
  • Review project budgets and select staffing and equipment as needed.
  • Direct management of project team and corporate functions (including engineering, procurement, legal, services, vendors, subcontractors, and owner's engineer).
  • Communicate project status to senior management and stakeholders with regular project updates, identify issues that could impact project performance, and lead the corrective action effort to put solutions and resolutions into place.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, looking for productivity gains through project closeout meetings and document lessons learned for future projects.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty required.
  • 15 years of experience as a project engineer/project manager and related positions.
  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA), technology management (MSTM) or engineering management (MsEm or MEM) preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing industry processes and automation technology.
  • Hands on experience with Global Food Safety Initiative (FGS); Food Safety, environment, and audits
  • Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems.
  • Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity in drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics.
  • Effectively communicate instructions while leading the team to meet their goals.
  • Detail-oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay attention to details, as a minor error can result in major problems.
  • Math skills, including calculus and other advanced mathematics for developing new processes and products.
  • Organizational skills for tracking various budgets, employees, and schedules simultaneously.
  • Comply with the company safety procedures.
  • Live the company culture of integrity, teamwork, self-discipline, and professional competence.
  • Quality - Ensure standards are maintained in a process driven environment.
  • Comply with GMP normative and pest control procedure.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to meet project commitments.
  • Support new hire training.
  • Participate in HR and plant activities as required.
  • Use a professional-level language when using the 2-way radio, always following the Basic Radio Etiquette Rules (Clarity, Simplicity, Brevity, Security).
  • Participate in internal and external training programs related to evolving technologies and industry advancements.
  • Reports to Plant General Manager
