District / School Overview

One of the exciting aspects of working here is our student diversity. Drawing 1,700 students from our large geographic region, we bring students and families from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and experiences into three vibrant school communities (Elementary, Middle & High School). The Elementary School at FRCS serves approximately 750 students in grades K-4. The 80 staff members in the Elementary School are dedicated, collaborative, and compassionate educators and faculty that strive to provide all students with the tools needed to become successful global citizens. In addition to providing a standards-based curriculum, we also provide opportunities for students to build their character, engage in several itinerants, and learn Spanish starting in Kindergarten. Responsibilities:

The successful candidate for this position will:

  • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge of all content areas they teach, including the appropriate levels of cognitive, social, and emotional development of the young child;
  • Establish a respectful environment of a diverse population of students, developing a classroom learning environment in which each child has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults and other children;
  • Facilitate learning for all students using a variety of instructional methods, to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, encourage exploration of ideas, and develop leadership qualities;
  • Reflect on teaching practices, analyzing student learning, development, and growth and apply what is learned to improve instruction;
  • Demonstrate leadership, advocate for the school and it’s students and exhibit high ethical standards;
  • Take responsibility for student academic growth using a variety of assessments and ongoing improvement of instructional practice;

Qualifications- Required:

  • Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary 1-6 and hold an SEI endorsement
  • Candidates are subject to background checks including, CORI clearance, and fingerprinting
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Qualifications- Preferred:

  • Education: Holding a Master’s degree is a plus
  • Experience working in an urban and diverse school district

This position is part of the FRCSTA bargaining unit. Salary is subject to collective bargaining agreements.
