Essential Job Duties:

• Reviews clinical documentation, assures the final diagnoses and procedure codes as stated by the provider are valid and complete. Downloads the information into the billing system.
• Assigns appropriate codes ICD-9 or 10, CPT, and HCPCS, codes for office and hospital visits and procedures according to established guidelines.
• Communicates with providers to assure proper documentation and coding.
• Provides education to providers and other office staff as needed.
• Follows coding guidelines as they relate to specific payers.
• Communicates with the billing department and resolves coding discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Contributes to continuous quality improvement.

Requirements:

Must be located in Wisconsin and able to come to office when needed.

Education

• High school education
• Post high school education in coding and insurance or medical billing
• 2 year experience in coding for a specialty clinic
• CPC Certification
• Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness
